YouTube Mobile Uploads up 400% since iPhone 3GS
Today it was announced by Google that the amount of daily YouTube uploads from mobile devices have increased 400% since the launch of the iPhone 3GS. The 3GS has the ability to easily record and upload videos directly to YouTube. YouTube says that the increase in uploads since the release follows the trend of a 1700% increase in videos over the past six months.
“This growth represents three things coming together: new video-enabled phones on the market, improvements to the upload flow when you post a video to YouTube from your phone, and a new feature on YouTube that allows your videos to be quickly and effortlessly shared through your social networks. It takes just a minute to connect your YouTube account to your Facebook, Twitter and Google Reader accounts. Complete a simple, one-time connection on our upload page to allow all your friends and followers to get a real-time stream of your uploads to YouTube, which can be essential in this age of citizen reporting and ubiquitous sharing.”
10 million apps, 1 million phones
Apple reports that in the first weekend they have sold 1 million iPhones. At the launch of the original iPhone, it took 74 days to reach 1 million devices sold. To go along with the 1 million iPhones, there have been 10 million apps downloaded this weekend.
“The App Store is a grand slam, with a staggering 10 million applications downloaded in just three days,” said Steve Jobs, Apples CEO. “Developers have created some extraordinary applications, and the App Store can wirelessly deliver them to every iPhone and iPod touch user instantly.”
iPhone 3G S Activation Delay, $30 iTunes Gift Card
Since the release of the iPhone 3G S, there have been numerous accounts of customers facing problems while trying to activate their new devices. On the screen of the computer, a message came up saying that it could take up to 48 hours for the phone to be activated. Due to the large quantity of problems, Apple sent out this letter to the customers telling them they will receive a $30 iTunes credit:
“
Dear Apple Customer,
Thank you for your recent Apple Store order. We appreciate your patience and apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay in your iPhone activation.
We are still resolving the issue that was encountered while activating your iPhone with AT&T. Unfortunately, due to system issues and continued high activation volumes, this could take us up to an additional 48 hours to complete.
On Monday, you’ll receive an email from Apple with an iTunes Store credit in the amount of $30. We hope you will enjoy this gift and accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this delay has caused.
Thank you for choosing Apple.
Sincerely,
Apple Online Store Team

Hidden features in OS 3.0
Besides for all of the features listed in the keynote and on Apple.com, there are many other features to 3.0 that were never announced.
The number of home screens has been changed for 9 to 11. This is a great increase in the storage of apps. Also, there is pretty much unlimited app downloading. Apps that don’t fit into the 11 pages will show up under the spotlight search.
If while using an app it was interupted by a phone call, once it is hung up the phone will return back to the app.
You can now make multiple calendars.
While waiting for an SMS message to send, you can type another one.
In your settings there is now a button called “Store”. This shows your iTunes account information. Also at the bottom of the app store it will show your account name.

AT&T allows more customers to be eligible for iPhone 3G S
Any AT&T customer that is going to be eligible for an upgrade in July, August, or September, will now be able to purchase the new iPhone 3G S tomorrow at the lowered cost. This move by AT&T came just after Apple released the new OS 3.0.
“Importantly, we want our customers to better understand our wireless device upgrade program. Like most U.S. carriers, we offer a variety of phones that we sell below our actual cost when customers agree to sign service agreements. In general, the more a customer spends with us, the quicker they become eligible for a price break on a new device. For example, iPhone customers who spend more than $99 a month per line with us generally are eligible for an upgrade between 12 and 18 months into their contract.
We also currently offer early upgrade pricing only for iPhone 3G S and iPhone 3G.
All of that said, we’ve been listening to our customers. And since many of our iPhone 3G customers are early adopters and literally weeks shy of being upgrade eligible due to iPhone 3G S launching 11 months after iPhone 3G, we’re extending the window of upgrade eligibility for a limited time.”
Also, any customer who has already purchased the iPhone 3G S at the higher price and is now eligible for the lower price will receive credit for the difference.
